I’m excited to announce my re-election campaign for School Trustee in Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District!
As I look forward to what the next four years might hold, I can’t help but look back on all that we’ve accomplished so far. I have had the great honour of sitting on the school board for three terms, and in that time I’m proud of the collaborative culture we have worked to build around the Board table and within the Board office. I believe healthy, respectful, safe environments start with leadership. By modelling collaboration, listening to different perspectives, and treating one another with respect, we can create the conditions for that culture to grow throughout our schools and communities
We’ve created an atmosphere where I hope students, parents, and educators feel valued, respected, and safe. We’ve established greater ability and created space to focus on growth and student achievement. We’ve increased access to childcare, education assistants, school lunches, and advocated for adequate funding to support the continued success of our school systems. All of these things are vital components of promoting student achievement.
I share that we have done this as a collective because becoming a productive member of the school board is a shared endeavour. Understanding how families and educators are impacted by policy requires multiple perspectives, and everyone’s voice has value. I remain open-minded in listening and learning from our communities so that we can continue to nurture the next generation of community members on their education journeys.
